Resume Basics
What Skills Should Freshers Add to a Resume?
Skills should help recruiters understand what you can actually do. A shorter evidence-backed skill list is stronger than a long list copied from job descriptions.
Separate top skills and supporting skills
Top skills should match the target role and connect to projects, coursework or internships.
Supporting skills can include tools, languages or soft skills, but they should not crowd out stronger proof.
Connect skills to evidence
If you list React, show a React project. If you list Excel, show coursework, internship or a finance project.
This makes interviews easier because every skill has a story behind it.
Do not add every skill you are learning
It is okay to be learning. But the resume should focus on skills you can explain under interview pressure.
If a skill is beginner-level, place it in supporting skills or leave it out until you have proof.
